REVIEWS FOR THRIVE BY DESIGN
Thrive by Design is the best book I have read on management/leadership in the workplace.
Thrive by Design is the best book I have read on management/leadership in the workplace. The book applies principles of science and the anatomy of the human brain to positive leadership and employee engagement. I believe the information and message of this book are crucial for managers and leaders today and in the future. I like the book because it explains why people think, operate and react the way they do. Also, the book communicates the type of positive leadership people need from managers/leaders in order to be engaged and thrive in their work.
I'm using this book as a text for a course I am teaching on advanced psychology in organizations. Great resource!! Would highly recommend to those teaching this material as well as organizational leaders. Well written, clear, and comprehensive book on the neuroscience of organizational culture.
What today's managers need to know to effectively lead. The book is a primer on how management must adapt to a changing workforce that is looking for much more than a paycheck. The time when employees were forced to hang on to a job because there was a shortage of jobs is long gone. Today's workforce is in the driver's seat. Skill and labor shortages, combined with workers that require much more from their workplace than their predecessors, require a different management style and thinking. To be successful todlay's managers need to engage, connect with their staff and provide a safe environment where everyone feels their contributions are appreciated.
Based on neuroscience, this book lays out the blueprint for what management needs to strive for in order to retain motivated and skilled people. It covers engagement, accountability, company culture and looks at the reasons that people stay with organizations and why they leave. A compelling read that every manager would benefit from.
A crisp, credible, useful read for leaders.
Thrive by Design by Don Rheem is a crisp, credible, useful read for leaders of organizations. The workplace has evolved quickly, and people now seek positive connections with others and with the organization’s purpose as vital components of their work environment. I really appreciated Don Rheem's clear, direct style that was easy to follow. He links the recent discoveries in brain science with leadership opportunities. All leaders would benefit from understanding what motivates people to be at their best in an organization. Each chapter ends with a brief summary of insights and action steps. This makes it a “handbook for effective leadership” as well a book of good ideas based on neuroscience.
A well-written book about how things work in the real world of management.
There are many “so called” management books out there that speak to the idea of management as a science. Many fall short of that and instead reveal another “management du jour” plan. Thrive By Design: The Neuroscience That Drives High-Performance Cultures by Don Rheem is not like that. Instead, Rheem discusses why different approaches to management work and why others don’t. Rheem gives examples of how management should work and why it will work that way.I promise you there is none of that pass out pins, put up posters, hold hands, ropes course kind of management in Thrive By Design. This is a well-written book about how things work in the real world of management.
